Why should I use Living Needs?
As a family run business we care about our reputation and our clients. Our

– from the initial survey to the end of the job. We provide complete project
management and, as we offer all trades under one roof, you have peace of mind
that the job will run as smoothly as possible. What’s more as an established
company with 30 years’ experience, you can rest assured that we offer

What services do you provide?
Just about everything! We can survey, design and quote free of charge. We
can supply only or supply and install. As specialists in home adaptations
for the elderly and less able, we offer bathroom adaptations – including wetrooms,
level access and low level showers, plus walk-in baths – kitchen adaptations,
including wheelchair accessible designs; and property adaptations including;
conversions and renovations extensions, ramps, electrical works, decoration,
external lifts and stairlifts.

3. What areas of the country do you cover?
We work mainly throughout Devon, North Cornwall and West Somerset. Please

4.
What is the warranty of your work?
All installation work comes with a 12 month warranty and specialist products
are all covered by the manufacturer’s standard warranties.
Building works can be covered for up to 10 years subject to a master bond

5.
How do I qualify for VAT reductions or exemptions?
Subject to status, 5% VAT is currently available for the over 60’s,
and 0% VAT for persons with a registered disability. For more information

6.
What time do you start / finish work?
Subject to your location, working hours Mon-Fri are usually between 8am –
9am until 16:30 – 17:00. If these times are inconvenient, we can discuss
alternative working times to suit (Saturday working is by arrangement).

7.
How do you protect my home during work?
The first thing our tradesmen will do is cover all access routes with a clear
carpet protector. If required, they will erect dust screens in order to contain
any dust particles.

8.
What do you do with the items you remove?
All items such as baths, wash hand basins, radiators and toilets, will be
taken away and disposed of in our licensed skip which is situated at our depot.
Should the client wish to retain any removed items then our tradesmen can
leave the items within the property via the client’s instructions. All
rubble will be taken away each day so that no mess is left at the client’s
premises. Any items that are to be re-fixed, will be set aside and protected
at the client’s property, ready to be re-installed at a later stage
by ourselves.

9.
Do you employ or sub-contract your installers?
We directly employ a large team including skilled plumbers, carpenters, masons,
and floor layers.In addition, we have an approved list of specialist sub-contractors
including NICEIC approved electricians and CORGI registered Gas Fitters, for
use as and when required.

Do you supply to the trade?
We can offer a 10% discount to trades persons on supply of certain goods.

Wetrooms
1.
How much will it cost?
Prices vary and are subject to a site survey. As each job is different, we
are unable to produce a quotation without inspecting the existing supplies

2.
Will water come through my ceiling?
This is a common concern, but we can assure you that everything is sealed
to prevent this from happening. We supply and lay either a water resistant
vinyl floor covering, or if floor tiles are to be laid, then we lay a water
resistant membrane to the entire room.

3.
How can you be sure that the water will not run out of the wetroom?
When installing a wetroom, a tray former is fitted under the finished floor
which has all the correct gradients to allow the water within the showering
area and the rest of the room to run towards the new shower waste. We will
also fit a new threshold to the doorway.

4.
Will the floor be slippery?
For a level access shower or a wet room, we highly recommend that you use
a slip resistant floor covering such as the Altro Marine 20 or the Poly Safe
Hydro, Vinyls, or a slip resistant floor tile. These are special floorings
approved to safety standard BS EN 13845 and they offer maximum slip resistance.

5.
Is there an alternative to wall tiles?
Yes. You can use a wall panelling system that has an easy clean laminated
surface manufactured from 12.5mm WBP water resistant plywood. Click HERE*

6.
What shower is best suited to my current water system?
We would always recommend a thermostatically controlled shower system (either
manual or electric). Our surveyors can advise you as to the shower best suited

No. Should we need to remove the W.C, we will re-install if you require use of the sanitaryware during the day. At the end of the day, we will tidy up and re-install the W.C for use overnight. If it is not possible to re-install the W.C, we can provide a commode for personal use.
