Safe showering solutions for the elderly and less able

If you are considering updating your bathroom, it’s worth noting that there are showers that have been specifically designed with safety in mind for the elderly and less able.

Mira Advance ATL Flex

The Mira Advance was the first shower in the UK with thermostatic control.  This precise control ensures that whatever happens to the water temperature or pressure, the shower stays constant.

The shower has enhanced safety features to protect the user at all times, including a smooth slide bar which allows the user to change the height with just one hand.  It features backlit LED buttons, making it extremely easy to use, and has a 2m hose which means the showerhead can reach further.  Giving the user much greater flexibility of use and is ideal for those who need to use a shower seat.

So safe, the Mira Advance earned the BEAB Care mark and is endorsed by the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).

Mira Vision Dual

With thermostatic temperature stability for safe showering and separate temperature and flow controls, the Vision allows you to fine tune your perfect shower.  Together with the ability to divert between a larger luxury paddle shower head and a spray head, you can achieve your perfect showering solution.

The shower features a sleek lozenge shaped controller with a variety of programmable functions including a warm-up mode, clock display, shower timer and eco setting.  A second controller is available allowing control from a second location – perhaps for use by a carer for example.  The Mira Advance and Mira Vision are available to see in our extensive show room, I Mill Road, Barnstaple.

The Federation of Master Builders

The Federation of Master Builders is the UK's largest trade association in the building industry.  Established in 1941 to protect the interests of small and medium-sized building firms, the FMB is independent and non-profit-making, lobbying continuously for members’ interests at both national and local levels.

The FMB is a source of knowledge, professional advice and support for its members. The FMB also offers advice to consumers via its 'find a builder' and 'check a member' web pages giving you peace of mind that your project will be handled professionally.

FMB's mission is that "Our construction companies are uniquely placed in the construction market to deliver the highest quality and best value to clients."

Trust Mark: Government Endorsed Standards

TrustMark is a Government-backed quality mark which operates a framework under which 26 scheme operators work in the Repair, Maintenance and Improvement sector, including trade associations, local government trading standards teams, and independent scheme operators.

These schemes are approved to carry the TrustMark logo and recruit reputable and trustworthy tradesmen. This enables the TrustMark scheme operators to promote improved standards, and tackle related issues such as better enforcement. All of these scheme operators are audited annually by TrustMark, to ensure processes, standards and complaint procedures are being maintained.
